At Seniors Helping Seniors® Chesterfield County, we have a passion for meeting the needs of seniors in a way that provides both dignity and a sense of camaraderie. Our owner(s) Lurene Reck firmly believe we can do that through serving seniors in our community, which includes: South of the James River.
Seniors Helping Seniors in-home services are available throughout Chesterfield County and in the Southern Richmond area. Seniors Helping Seniors in-home-care service fosters relationships between seniors seeking employment and seniors who require help with daily non-medical personal needs and household tasks and chores to continue living in their own homes.
Lurene Reck, Franchise Owner
Lurene Reck of Midlothian, always imagined owning her own business. While traveling, she spotted an ad for Seniors Helping Seniors in-home care services and knew that this was her chance to help area seniors stay independent.
She signed up immediately to attend an open house for more information, and decided that this was the chance she had been waiting for to fill what she had been missing in her life – the opportunity to help and serve others.
Before settling in Midlothian, Lurene worked in the automotive industry, which gave her the chance to live all over the country – from San Francisco, Chicago, Louisville and Atlanta, to Northern Virginia and now the just south of Richmond. Through her travels she was able to experience different cultures and views on how families care for their loved ones and face the challenges of keeping them safe and comfortable.
Lurene also became a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) through the Society for Certified Senior Advisors, a nationally accredited and recognized organization for professionals working with seniors. This combined with her prior business experience and travel, allows her to ensure that all seniors receive the dignity, respect and fair treatment they deserve as they age.
“I understood the challenges caregiving could bring to a family. It is very important it is to have options, so no family member feels the extra burden and to give families reassurance that their loved one is receiving compassionate care and comfort,” says Lurene.
Lurene was born and raised in Michigan, where she received a BBA from Western Michigan University. She continued her education at Loyola University at Chicago, receiving her MBA. She spent 26 years working in the corporate world before deciding to take a chance on opening her own business.
She is a proud member of several organizations that serve the Greater Richmond communities. These include the American Legion Auxiliary Midlothian Post 186, Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce, and Chesterfield Council on Aging, Chesterfield Triad, Richmond Senior Network, RVA Better Aging Forum, and the Retail Merchants Association Greater Richmond. She attends Journey Christian Church in Midlothian and serves on the production and set-up teams.
Lurene is an active runner and has completed 14 marathons around the United States, including one in Rome, Italy. Her bucket list is to complete a marathon in all 50 states and seven continents.

About Our Founders
Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home care service was co-founded by Kiran and Philip Yocom in order to realize Kiran’s personal mission of providing care for those who can’t care for themselves. Before coming to the United States from India, Kiran worked with Mother Teresa for 14 years.
How We've Grown
From our roots in Pennsylvania, and our first match in 1998, Seniors Helping Seniors® has grown to include hundreds of locations in the US and Internationally. We continue to grow and evolve, adding new services to better assist seniors and refining our caregiver training as new industry best practices come to light.
To keep pace with a rapidly growing senior population, we’re actively seeking Seniors Helping Seniors® franchise partners in open markets.
